How on earth did she get all the way up there? That’s all we can think after hearing about a dramatic cat rescue mission, which involved a kitty getting stuck on a utility pole in Phoenix. Before being saved, the poor thing was reportedly sitting up there for three whole days.
The black and white cat, who is very appropriately named Gypsy, managed to find herself at the very top of the pole, which overlooked several family homes and roads, sometime on a Friday. By Monday morning, so many concerned residents called 911 that the Phoenix Fire Department dispatchers’ activities almost came to a “screeching halt,” according to The Arizona Republic.
Even though officials from a utility company were given the responsibility of rescuing the cat, a local resident quite literally took matters into his own hands to climb a very high ladder and rescue the cat himself before people from the company could arrive. (Experts do not recommend trying this without the proper equipment, due to numerous safety risks.)
Local Phoenix station KNXV-TV posted a Facebook live video of the entire cat rescue. We have to say, we were holding our breaths the whole time — we can’t imagine what must have been going through the little feline’s head during these moments. Watch the whole saga unfold for yourself below:
It’s no surprise that this footage has been viewed more than 70,000 times, is it? Fortunately, shortly after the rescue, Gypsy was reunited with her owners, who were more than happy to have her back home.
Thank goodness this story had a happy ending!
